Understanding Childhood Anxiety

The purpose of this workshop is to provide participants with an understanding of what anxiety is, the impact of anxiety on daily functioning, and strategies for supporting a child living with anxiety. At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify different anxiety disorders
- Identify two evidence-based treatments for anxiety
- Have some practical strategies for supporting children living with anxiety
Kari Deschambault (MSW, RSW) is a Mental Health Clinician with Kidthink. She is a registered social worker with the Manitoba College of Social Workers. Kari has a passion for working within multidisciplinary teams to promote healing, resiliency, and recovery for children and families who have experienced mental health concerns, developmental trauma, and attachment disruptions. She has over 10 years of experience working as a child and family clinician for children’s community mental health organizations in Ontario and New Brunswick and, more recently, in managed care settings in Winnipeg.
