Steve Williams

President
Steve joined the Board in 2014. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant and a Chartered Business Valuator with over 15 years of experience helping business and business owners find practical solutions to complex business and financial problems. Steve currently works as a Vice President of Corporate Development with People Corporation. His prior experience includes senior roles at both Grant Thornton and Deloitte working closely with local and national clients to help them through business growth, transition and transactions. A father and husband, Steve believes that strong, supportive families provide the foundations of a vibrant and successful community.

Brian Moore

Vice President
Brian joined the board in 2012 as he shares Family Dynamics vision of "Healthy Families, Strong Communities". He has worked in many fields, from caring for children in Child Family Services (CFS), working with people with addictions and counselling at a camp for inner city youth. Brian attended undergraduate school at the University of Winnipeg and Providence College and graduate school at Providence Seminary in pastoral studies. Having spent most of his life in Winnipeg, Brian feels for the city and has a genuine desire to care for Winnipeggers.

Krystina Balcaen, CPA, CA

Treasurer and Chair of Audit Committee
Krystina joined the board in 2017. She obtained her accounting designation in 2006 and was recognized as a top writer by earning a place on the National Honour Roll. As an audit manager, her clients included a wide variety of industries such as financial institutions and automotive, but also a variety of not-for-profit organizations which she particularly enjoyed.  Currently, Krystina manages exam development for CPA Canada, where she is able to put a more direct focus on education and learning. She also spends a significant amount of her free time supporting a variety of charitable causes, including in her roles as board Chair of the CPA Manitoba Foundation and as a director of the Winnipeg Humane Society board, where she has also volunteered with the cats in their care for almost a decade. In addition to education and animals, Krystina is also passionate about assisting new immigrants to Canada (she and her family have directly assisted in the immigration and settlement of families from Ukraine) as well as improving mental health education and support for future generations.

Deb Campbell

Director
Deb Campbell is a former staff member of Family Dynamics, working in the Special Needs Family Child Care Program, the Counselling Program, and also the FAST Program. She has been working for the Province of Manitoba in Communications for the past 14 years helping to promote and raise awareness of a number of different programs the Province offers. Now that her children are grown and past all of the extracurricular sports, Deb has more time available and wanted to provide some Communication support at the Board level to an organization she respects and admires.

Karen Bryk

Director

Living a purpose-filled life results by helping others and when Karen served as a liaison officer for the Government of Canada at their first international war affected children’s conference, and as a Board Member for the Israel Idonije Children’s Foundation (Chicago), she discovered the joy that comes from helping others. Building on this community service, Karen co-chaired the Health Sciences Centre Foundation’s Laureate of Excellence Dinner which honored Romeo Dallaire, Commander of the United Nations’ Mission to Rwanda for his humanitarian works and has served on several hospital foundation boards. She is a founding member of Protocol and Diplomacy International – Protocol Officers Association (Washington, D.C.). As someone with a passion for cross cultural awareness, she particularly enjoys working with Family Dynamics as they strive to meet the diverse needs of Manitoba’s changing community. Karen is currently responsible for the Community and Stakeholder Relations for Elevate Aviation Ltd (Edmonton), a non-profit organization devoted to increasing the number of women entering the field of aviation and aerospace. She also currently serves as a member of the Community Investment Committee with United Way Winnipeg.

Luc Lewandoski

Past President
Luc has worked as a political aide and organizer at all levels of government. He currently acts as an adviser for Winnipeg City Councillor Scott Gillingham. Originally from a small town near Riding Mountain National Park, Luc was raised with a sense of community and volunteerism that has led him to contribute time to several non-profit organizations over the years. Luc and his wife Karen Dawn live in Charleswood with their two daughters and a son."

Sharon Walters

As a new Board member, Sharon brings to the table over 30 years of experience working in Social Services and Health Care Sectors. Currently working in the field of Community Development, Sharon supports communities by fostering partnerships and building neighbourhood capacity. Sharon also has experience in policy and program development; research and evaluation; grant development and managing employment and training projects. In her free time, Sharon travels and is involved in various dog training activities

Darlene Mager

"What lies behind us, and what lies before us, are tiny matters compared to what lies within us”. Henry Stanley Haskins. Darlene is a Charted Professional in Human Resources (Candidate), and brings over 15 years in talent management, resource planning, strategic implementation, and human resources experience. Currently the Senior Consultant, Talent Acquisition for the Bank of Nova Scotia, she leverages the above for over 100 retail branches in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Western ON. As a single parent, Darlene has personal insight into the benefits of family support through experience using resources similar to those of Family Dynamics. She has prior experience volunteering on the board of her daughter’s daycare, served two years as President of the Music Association with a local junior high, and represented her daughter’s football team as Senior Manager. Joining the Board of Directors will allow Darlene to use her personal and professional experience to contribute to resources she believes has made her family as strong as it is today.
